On her 30th birthday, Nikki Gewirtz, Lola Rose founder, received a piece of jewellery that was so special, it changed her life. As well as being beautiful, it evoked magical childhood memories for Nikki, and, unexpectedly, struck a chord with her creative side. At the time, Nikki says, ‘I was at a crossroads in my life, and I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I felt the need to create something stunning that was real and could be treasured. This gift inspired me to start designing my own pieces. At the same time, it reminded me of my Grandma Lola. She was so glamorous and stylish – I adored her.’ Three months later, Nikki’s first piece of jewellery came into being – a single tumble-stone bracelet, which became the foundation of her own brand, Lola Rose.
Nikki’s vision is to create fabulous, timeless pieces, for every moment in our lives. As she puts it, ‘I want to provide a little piece of everyday luxury that makes women feel great about themselves.’ For most women, it’s all about looking and feeling good effortlessly. ‘When I first started Lola Rose I wasn’t married and I didn’t have any children,’ says Nikki. Now married with two little boys, like so many women today, Nikki is juggling home, kids and the demands of running an ever-growing business. ‘Balancing home life and work is difficult,’ says Nikki. ’I love shopping but I don’t get much time to do it any more.’ All women want to feel and look wonderful, so, says Nikki, ‘every woman should have accessories that make her smile and bring her confidence – whether it’s a pretty printed scarf or a bold gemstone bracelet – that’s what I wanted to achieve with Lola Rose.’
Lola Rose’s individually designed pieces, created from handpicked materials, are loved and worn by thousands of mothers, daughters and grandmothers, from all walks of life. Not to mention those red-carpet names we all aspire to – from the Duchess of Cambridge to Sarah Jessica Parker and Halle Berry, some of the world’s most gorgeous women are regularly pictured wearing Lola Rose.
Last year, in a very special moment of celebration, Nikki was awarded the MBE for services to jewellery design. As the ultimate recognition that Nikki has fulfilled her dream – to create something real and beautiful, a little piece of everyday luxury, that can be treasured forever – it couldn’t be a more fitting honour for Lola Rose. “I am absolutely delighted and humbled – the fashion industry has been incredibly supportive and to be joining the ranks of such eminent talent is such an honour. I believe that we must celebrate British Designers – we have some of the finest in the world. It is the ability to think outside the box and break rules that results in the extraordinary and original and as a nation we shine at turning things on their head and coming up with a unique perspective! ” Love,
